The War in Afghanistan and Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack. The United States population base is roughly 351,887,000 which is being defended by 1,400,000 active duty Military. That equates to only thirty nine tenths of one percent (.39%) of the population is defending the other 99.61% !The Brave Men and Women of America's Military put it all on the line. They volunteer to take on dangerous duties and carry out their missions with incredible courage. There's no way we can ever pay them back. But, there's no excuse for not trying. The Jihadests will not stop their vowed hate and terror towards US and they will follow us home even if we leave their Battle Field of Terror. Surveys reflect that over 1,500 Veterans now die each day. As a percentage of their demographic group, the Vietnam era Veterans are now dying off faster than the WWII Veterans due to Agent Orange. Sadly, many Vietnam era Veterans are dying while still waiting for their claims to be recognized and for treatment from the Veterans Administration.

~2,644,000 personnel were in country during the period of 1960 - 1973.
~Of the 2.6 million, between 1-1.6 million (40-60%) either fought in combat or provided close support.
~61% of men killed were 21 or younger.
~303,704 wounded.
~75,000 severely disabled.
~2,338 MIA.
~766 (114 died in captivity) POW.
~88.4% of men who served in Vietnam were Caucasian; 10.6% were Black; 1% were of other races.
~86.3% of men who died in Vietnam were Caucasian (includes Hispanics); 12.5% were Black; 1.2% were of other races.
~82% of veterans who saw heavy combat strongly believe the war was lost because of lack of political will.
~75% of the public agrees it was a failure of political will, not of arms.
~97% of Vietnam-era Veterans were honorably discharged.
~66% of Vietnam Vets say they would serve again if called upon.
~87% of the public "Now" holds Vietnam Veterans in high esteem.

I asked a Nam Vet when was he in Vietnam and he replied "LAST NIGHT"!!! I think we are all now in our 60's so why can't we just turn it off ? Some times I think I miss it, but WHY ? It was the worst time of my life, or the best ?
