1968 PRESIDENTIAL NEW YEAR GREETINGS FROM PRESIDENT AND MRS LYNDON B. JOHNSON & WHITE HOUSE ENVELOPE, POSTMARKED, WASHINGTON, D.C. 26 DEC 1968.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THE SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAYS WITH US. WE ARE GRATEFUL--AND WISH WITH YOU FOR A NEW YEAR IN WHICH ALL MEN CAN ENJOY THE BLESSINGS OF PEACE AND ABUNDANCE. LADY BIRD JOHNSON, LYNDON B. JOHNSON

While liberal Johnson was Horsing around in the White House, pandering to North Vietnam with his Outrageous Restricted Rules of Combat Engagement, Our Troops were Unnecessarily Dying in the Steamy Stinking Blood Soaked Jungles of Vietnam.

Chapter 11: American Military History, Volume II
~ The Three Phases of the NVA/VC 1968 Tet Offensive: Jan 30, May & Sept 1968.

101st Airborne Screaming Eagle 326, Vietnam veteran experience with 100's of photographs - Copyrighted 1968 was the worst and bloodiest year of the Vietnam War. The biased liberal news media misreported and misinterpreted the 1968 Tet Offensive as being an overwhelming success for the Communist forces and a decided defeat for the US Forces. Nothing could be further from the truth. Despite initial victories by the Communists forces, the Tet Offensive resulted in a major defeat for General Vo Nguyen Giap, the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) designer of the Tet Offensive. Militarily, the Tet Offensive was a total defeat of the Communist forces on all fronts. It resulted in the death of some 45,000 NVA troops and the complete, if not total
destruction of the Viet Cong elements in South Vietnam. The Organization of the Viet Cong Units in the South never recovered. The Tet Offensive succeeded on only one front and that was the US News front and the anti-war political arena. This was another example in the Vietnam War of an inaccuracy becoming the perceived truth. However, inaccurately reported, the News Media made the three 1968 Tet Offensives famous.

Vietnam Veteran Annual Reunion

It's been 35+ years since I departed Vietnam and I would like to get in touch with some of my former unit members from the 326th Combat Engineer Bn. If you recognize yourself or anybody in my photographs please email me. For the last eight years I have traveled to the Annual Vietnam Veterans Reunion in Melbourne, Florida, in hopes to locate former unit members, but to date I have only located about a dozen 326ers and only one that I actually knew from Vietnam. I guess we have all aged some and look a little different now from the old days. If you have never been to a Vietnam Vet Reunion before, I urge you to attend as its good medicine for your heart and soul. We all aren't getting any younger and some of our Brothers that survived Vietnam have since passed on after returning home. I had mixed emotions about attending my first reunion and I am glad that I didn't let those emotions stop me from going. There's nothing like seeing your old buddies that you served with in Vietnam and honoring those who did not make it.
The Melbourne Vietnam Vets Reunion is held every April and the 101st Airborne Division is well represented there along with Vets from all Branches of the US Military traveling from all over the United States to meet their old Brothers in arms. I will attend the Melbourne reunion this April 24-27, 2008, for the opening ceremonies. I hope to see you all there. Click here to obtain further information on this or next year's Melbourne Vietnam Vets Reunion, which is the largest Vet Reunion in the United States. Alot of healing is delivered there where you are among your Brothers who understand. 101st Airborne Screaming Eagle 326, Vietnam veteran experience with 100's of photographs - Copyrighted

~ Why Vietnam Veterans Gather ~

I now know why men who have been to war yearn to reunite. Not to tell stories or look at old pictures. Not to laugh or weep. Comrades gather because they long to be with the men who once acted their best, men who suffered and sacrificed, who were stripped raw, right down to their humanity. I did not pick these men. They were delivered by fate and the US Army. But I know them in a way I know no other men. I have never given anyone such trust. They were willing to guard something more precious than my life. They would have carried my reputation, the memory of me. It was part of the bargain we all made, the reason we were so willing to die for one another. I cannot say where we are headed. Ours are not perfect friendships; those are the province of legend and myth. A few of my comrades drift far from me now, sending back only occasional word. I know that one day even these could fall to silence. Some of the men will stay close, a couple perhaps, always at hand. As long as I have memory, I will think of them all, every day. I am sure that when I leave this world, my last thought will be of my Family and my Comrades.
